Acolytes
Helping in Worship at a young age build lasting experiences.
Young people starting in the 2nd grade assist in worship by
lighting and extinguishing the candles and receiving the offering
plates.
Altar
Guild
Provides a team of two per month to change the altar cloths and banners
according to the seasons of the church year and to prepare for
communion.
Children's
Sermon
Presenters
A children's sermon ('Kids Corner') is presented at both services about
twice a month, normally on the second and fourth Sunday's.
Presenters may choose to share at one or both services.
Guidelines and source materials are available.
Communion
Assistants
These persons assist the pastor with distributing the wine at all
communion services. To assist, with the communion, a person
must
be a confirmed member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Crucifers
Crucifers
are persons (youth or adult) who carry the processional cross at the
beginning and conclusion of the traditional worship service (first
service). Contact Pastor Mark if interested in serving as a
crucifer or crucifer coordinator.
Drama
Team
This group for
all ages works together to bring
scriptures alive during worship services.
Greeters
Greeters welcome everyone who comes to worship each Sunday.
Pew
Organization
This group is one that does "behind the scenes" jobs that happen each
week. The attendance pads and card holders are checked for
supplies, neatness, and pencil sharpening. This ministry
provides
a welcoming atmosphere to all who worship.
Scripture
Readers
Every Sunday the first two scripture lessons are read by lay persons in
each service. (The Pastor reads the Gospel.) The
texts are
provided to the readers ahead of time for preparation. Along
with
many other congregations in the ELCA, we are now using readings from
the Revised
Common Lectionary.
Sound Room
Operators become familiar with the sound equipment for setup and
operation, make CDs of the services, and monitor sound output.
Ushers
Ushers
help
all who come to worship to feel welcome. They hand out
bulletins,
seat people, and perform numerous other duties to assist worshipers
during the services and other functions at Grace. A detailed
instruction list is given each usher.
Video
Ministry Operators
Operators input the service material into Media Shout software, select
and edit background graphics, operate any video clips, review and
operate the software each week, for the Audio/Visual system in the
Sanctuary.
Worship
Planning Group
This group meets to plan visual decorations and many other elements of
worship for the church seasons (Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent,
Easter, Pentecost.) This includes special events, as well as
the
normal operations we depend upon for the worship services each Sunday.
